Chilanzar district criminal court, chaired by U. Kakharov, reviewed an administrative case against Sh. Yunusov, 22, who participated in advertising of a bar in Tashkent city.

As reported earlier, Escada Lounge Bar in Chilanzar district of Tashkent posted a video ad on its New Year's shows on its Instagram account on December 25. The video shows guy slapping seven girls standing with their backs to their buttocks and legs, saying the date with each slap: "December 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 - every day."

"A big New Year's show," "free entrance," "you can come and relax for free," the guy says, gesturing towards the girls.

The post is accompanied by the tags #uzbekistan, #tashkentcity, #navoi, #bukhara, #kunuz, #zortv and others, as well as the caption "Jonkalani olovi."

Tashkent city resident Evgeniya M. reported that she filed a complaint to the Chilanzar district police department with a request to check the ad for violation of the Protection of Women from Harassment and Violence Law and Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men Law.

In the complaint, she recalled that Uzbekistan, as a member of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, condemns such manifestations and undertakes to pursue a policy of eliminating discrimination against women by all appropriate means.

In her opinion, the bar's advertisement "promoted a disrespectful, consumerist attitude towards women." "As a woman, I consider myself insulted by such advertising, which is also widely distributed in the media," Evgeniya said.

At the court hearing, Sh. Yunusov pleaded guilty, admitted the wrongdoing, adding that he “did not receive any financial benefit from the club’s administration.” He said that he realized the consequences of his actions and assured the court that such a thing would not happen again.

The court sentenced him to 5-day administrative arrest under Petty hooliganism charge, while relieving him from detention costs.

The ruling notes that the offender, by his actions, intentionally violated public order rules.

The ruling did not mention any punishment for the bar’s administration. It is also unclear whether the young man was employed by this bar.
