Roundtable was organized with the support of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Paderborn, Germany by the SBH West educational center and Kreishandwerkerschaft Paderborn-Lippe artisan association on the topic of attracting skilled labour from Uzbekistan.
Uzbek officials emphasized the need to diversify the migrant labor flow from Uzbekistan, 60 percent of whose population is under 30 years old, which, in turn, would allow Germany to fill the manpower shortage in the German economy.
Centers will be established in Uzbekistan for the German language and vocational training. The German partners were informed about the opening of a labor migration office in Germany in the near future.
During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for improving the skills and attracting Uzbeks for construction and finishing work, electrical engineering and metallurgy, the wood processing industry, and healthcare jobs in Germany fields of were discussed.
At the same time, the German officials proposed cooperation in attracting young Uzbeks who have completed a two-year training program in electronics or metal technologies as interns and skilled workers.
At the end of the event, an agreement was reached to hold similar roundtables in other federal states of Germany in 2025.
