Several young people and an investigator from a police department are suspected of raping a minor girl, in Navoi city, Kun.uz said on Monday.

According to the case file, an 18-year-old young man living in the Navbahar district, who at that time was a schoolboy, worked in a park in Navoi. On December 4, 2023, at around 9:00 p.m., a minor girl he knew (born in 2008) approached him.

“They talked for a while, then the guy took the girl to the basement next to the attraction and had sexual intercourse with her. Then three more guys entered the basement one by one. Another guy took the girl to an unknown place, which could not be clarified during the investigation, lived with her there for several days and had sexual intercourse,” the publication writes.

The oldest suspect was 23 years old, the youngest was 18 years old.

A criminal case has been launched against six young people. According to the ruling of the June 7 Navoi city criminal court three young people were found guilty under Sexual intercourse or satisfaction of sexual need in an unnatural form with a person under 16 years of age, repeatedly, by a dangerous recidivist or a person who has previously committed crimes under Articles 118, 119, 121 and (or) 129 charge of the Criminal Code, two more were found guilty under Sexual intercourse or satisfaction of sexual need in an unnatural form with a person under 16 years of age charge.

The court sentenced two defendants to 3.5 years in prison, one to 4.5 years, and another to 5 years and 1 month.

According to the publication, an investigator from the Navoi city police department, during the investigation of this case in January 2024, when he was on a training course for advanced training in Tashkent, called a girl and also had sexual intercourse with her. The Navoi province prosecutor's office opened a criminal case, the investigator was taken into custody.

In addition, an investigation is underway into the rape of the girl by three other young men.

The press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, Khayot Shamsuddinov, announced the launch of a criminal case under Engagement in sexual relations with a person aged 16 to 18 years by providing material assets or property or other benefits charge. An investigation is underway and one suspect is in custody.

The press service of the Children's Ombudsman said that they are monitoring the case within the framework of their powers and will continue to monitor the case in court from the point of view of the interests of the child.
