On June 10 at 8:10 AM at the intersection of Afrosiab and Sharaf Rashidov streets in downtown Tashkent, an underground cable caught fire as a result of a short circuit.

Footages showing thick smoke in the background of the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Cosmonauts square surfaced on social networks.

The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that at 8:15 AM, 9 fire and rescue crews arrived at the scene, at 9:08 the fire was extinguished.

No one was injured in the incident. The process of eliminating the emergency was monitored by the Minister of Emergency Situations Abdulla Kuldashev.

Traffic lights at the intersection and nearby intersections were temporarily not working.

The Tashkent Metro reported that the tunnel where the cable runs is not connected to the metro system, and the incident did not affect the operation of the subway.
