During his visit to Afghanistan, the Chairman of the State Security Service, Abdusalom Azizov, met with the acting Minister of Defense of the caretaker Afghan government, Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob, the press service of the Afghan Ministry of Defense said.
The parties discussed “the border, the ways to enhance bilateral and economic ties and transit cooperation.”
“We have strengthened the country's borders over the past year and are committed to strengthening them further,” said Mohammad Yaqub.
The Minister Mohammad assured Abdusalom Azizov that the Afghan defense and security forces are ready to provide any cooperation and support in the implementation of development projects in all areas.
At the end of October, a solid Uzbekistan delegation led by Deputy PM Jamshid Khojaev and five ministers visited Afghanistan. The parties vowed to boost the two-way trade to $3 billion per year. The Taliban also asked to reduce the transit fees of Afghan cargo through Uzbekistan.
