The ceremony for Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s Anti-Corruption Excellence award will take place at the end of this year in Tashkent. This was announced by the president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov.

The relevant agreement was reached during the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Doha on October 1-2, where he also met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The leadership of the State of Qatar is expected to attend the ceremony.

The holding of the ceremony in Tashkent is the evidence of great recognition by the world community of the great work carried out in the fight against corruption in recent years by our president, and reforms in general, noted Sherzod Asadov.

The award has been offered annually since 2016 on International Anti-Corruption Day - December 9. It is awarded to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the fight against corruption at the global level.

The award has categories such as Outstanding Achievement, Academic Research and Education, Creativity and Youth Engagement, Innovative/Investigative Journalism, and Protecting Sports from Corruption.

During the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Doha, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan and the Authority of Administrative Control and Transparency of Qatar.
