The French Development Agency (AFD) celebrated its 10th anniversary in Uzbekistan at the occasion of the visit of Mrs. Amélie Aubert, AFD Regional Director for Central and Eastern Asia, to Tashkent from October 14 to 16, 2025.
During her mission, Mrs. Aubert held high-level meetings with Uzbek government officials, representatives of international financial institutions (IFIs), and development partners to review AFD’s ongoing projects and discuss new avenues of cooperation.
The visit underscored AFD’s continued support to Uzbekistan’s development priorities, particularly in the areas of green growth, energy transition, irrigation and water management and livestock.
“Over the past decade, with more than 1.6 billion euros commitment, AFD has stood alongside Uzbekistan on its path toward a more sustainable and resilient future,” said Mrs. Amélie Aubert. “Our partnership reflects a shared vision of inclusive development and environmental responsibility.”
A press conference held at the AFD premises in Tashkent brought together journalists reflect on a decade of achievements and present AFD’s roadmap for the years ahead. Mrs. Aubert was joined by Mr. Olivier Grandvoinet, AFD Country Director for Uzbekistan, who reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with national and international stakeholders in the forthcoming years.
“In 10 years, Uzbekistan has become a major partner for AFD,” said Mr. Grandvoinet. “2025 is key to prepare the next phase of a deeper, broader and more ambitious AFD-Uzbekistan partnership based on shared objectives, mutual trust and innovation.”
