President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his address at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 19, again called on the international community to continue to support the people of Afghanistan.

“International security is directly related to the processes in Afghanistan,” he said. “A new situation has developed in this country, which requires special approaches to solving the Afghan issue.”

“It would be a big mistake to leave Afghanistan alone with its problems again. Ignoring, isolating and imposing sanctions are aggravating the situation of the ordinary Afghan people,” the president said.

“We believe that humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people should not weaken. We call for the development of appropriate mechanisms to channel Afghanistan’s frozen international assets to solve pressing social problems in this country,” he said.

“We need a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, which participates in regional cooperation processes and is open to mutually beneficial partnerships with its neighbors and other countries,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

He called on the world community to unite in solving the problem of Afghanistan.

“In this regard, I consider it fundamentally important, under the leadership of the United Nations, to develop a coordinated and constructive position on Afghanistan,” he said.
