On September 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva in New York.

According to the presidential press service, the parties exchanged views on the development of the global economic situation and considered issues of expanding cooperation with the IMF, including in the context of the agreements reached during a bilateral meeting in Samarkand in June.

“Kristalina Georgieva highly valued the ongoing program of irreversible reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to continue close cooperation in promoting effective transformations in the country,” the statement said.

The parties discussed the participation of the IMF in conducting a comprehensive analysis of the sustainability of the financial sector of Uzbekistan, providing advisory assistance in developing proposals to improve economic policy, as well as implementing a program to increase the capacity of specialists from the country’s departments.
