On June 7, at 23:25, a fire broke out at Kokand electrical substation, which led to the damage of the 35 kV high voltage cable and a blackout in some neighbourhoods of Mirabad and Yakkasaray districts in Tashkent.

The above accident also affected the operation of traffic lights on some Tashkent roads.

Due to the substation going down, the traffic lights are not working. We ask you to slow down and be extremely vigilant on the road, the Tashkent Police Department warned in a statement.

Meanwhile, water supply was temporarily stopped in three districts of Tashkent due to the shutdown of pumping stations. The pumps were turned off due to the blackout.

Now there is no water in some neighbourhoods of Yashnabad, Yakkasaray and Mirabad districts.

Earlier, on May 11, a government meeting chaired by the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took place to discuss issues of energy supply and the introduction of renewable energy sources in the regions.

Even then it became known that this year the shortage of power could reach 3 billion 400 million kilowatt-hours, and the daily demand on the hot days of the coming summer may increase from the current 195 million to 255 million kilowatt-hours due to, in particular, massive use of air conditionings.
