A memorandum was signed between the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Afghan Textile Corporation on relocating to Afghanistan of some idle Uzbek textile firms. From October 18 to 23, the Uzbek delegation inspected a number of facilities in Afghanistan.

Memorandum of cooperation was signed to this end between the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Afghan Textile Corporation. The MoU provides for the organization of preliminary inventory and design work.

In order to achieve the said goals, a delegation consisting of deputy chairman Z. Normatov and experts of the Chamber travelled to Afghanistan from October 18 to 23 of this year. During the travel, the following facilities were inspected:

  • Gulbahor Textile Factory” in Gulbahor district, Parwan province;
  • Sewing shop in Kabul;
  • Kandahar Textile Factory in Kandahar province;
  • Balkh Textile Factory in Mazar-i-Sharif city, Balkh province;
  • Puli-Khumri Textile Factory in Puli-Khumri city, Baghlan province.

During the visit, the current condition of the buildings, process equipment and infrastructure capabilities were assessed, and the necessary technical and economic data for preliminary design were collected.

Experts are currently processing and analyzing this data. These steps will reportedly serve to develop specific proposals for the restoration and commissioning of textile enterprises in Afghanistan.
