The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov on April 7, 2017 will visit Uzbekistan. This was announced in a briefing by the spokeswoman of the Russia Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

Zakharova noted that Sergei Lavrov will attend the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS Foreign Ministers Council).

It is planned that the Ministers will discuss a wide range of issues ofor advancing nterstate cooperation and foreign policy coordination of the CIS member-states, and will exchange views on the most topical foreign policy issues.

In the meeting in Tashkent, the CIS Foreign Ministers will adopt a joint statement on the inadmissibility of discrimination and intolerance against Christians, Muslims and representatives of other faiths.

It is also planned to sum up the work completed in the context of the implementation of the decision of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS of September 16, 2016 on the adaptation of the Commonwealth to modern realities, providing for a set of measures to strengthen the status of the CIS, improving the efficiency of its bodies, optimizing the budget expenditures of the Organization.

The Ministers will also consider a number of issues of cooperation in the law enforcement and humanitarian spheres.
