Vladimir Posner during Late Posner Show in response to a question whether the post-Soviet countries needed democracy, replied: “Some former Soviet republics: the Baltic countries, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia need some sort of democracy ito a certain extent.”
“Some others - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the countries of Central Asia obviously don’t need democracy nowadays”, he added.
“After all, it seems to me, some populations are either “ready” or not for democracy as a result of historical development and experience. And when they are “ready,” then the democracy emerges”, he concluded.
