Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the head of the Taliban delegation Baradar Akhund in Doha Sunday and discussed with him the process of peaceful settlement of the Afghan crisis, as well as economic assistance to Afghanistan, said Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid.

Ismatilla Irgashev, special representative of the Uzbek President for Afghanistan, was also present in the talks, the Taliban said in a statement to the media.

The Uzbekistan delegation declared its readiness to cooperate for the sake of peace in Afghanistan and to continue providing assistance for the economic rehabilitation of the country, the statement added.

The Uzbek official added that Uzbekistan "does not want to interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan."

Baradar Akhund, for his part, said that the Taliban would welcome Uzbekistan’s efforts for a peaceful settlement and would like to thank for the economic support to Afghanistan.
