From July 15, the Thai government officially adopted visa-free entry for up to 60 days for Uzbeks, Dunyo news agency reports, citing the country’s Consulate General in Bangkok.

Previously, Uzbeks would get a 15-day tourist visa on arrival at the airport for US$60.

The new rule applies to visitors through all border posts and is reportedly aimed at boosting the Thai economy.

According to the Thai Foreign Ministry, negotiations are currently underway to develop an intergovernmental mutual visa-free agreement between Uzbekistan and Thailand.

Thailand’s plans to adopt a visa-free for Uzbekistan and 35 other countries became known at the end of May.
