On November 10, the Russian government issued a resolution on the implementation of a pilot project “to hire Uzbeks for temporary construction, agro-industrial complex and light industry jobs in Russia.”
Previously, the ceiling for Uzbeks migrants under the organized recruitment project was at 11,000, with 1,100 for agro-industrial complex and 10,000 for the construction jobs. Amendments are aimed at responding to the needs of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and at removing restrictions on the number of migrants.
The medical requirements for Uzbeks have also been adjusted. If earlier Uzbeks had been required to provide a negative coronavirus test, hold Sputnik-Light vaccination certificate or to confirm that they had been ill with coronavirus, now it is not necessary to be vaccinated, but they alos must undergo a medical examination by Russian doctors in Uzbekistan, who are sent by the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency.
In addition, Russian employers will now have to report within five days through the single digital platform “Work in Russia” about the entry and exit of migrants from the country, their obtaining a patent and entering into an employment contract.
