Tashkent City Police Department will get a horseback mounted unit, for which 50 service horses will be purchased. This is stipulated by the May 1 Presidential Decree on "On measures to improve the activities of police in ensuring public order and citizens’ safety."
The mission of the new unit is to enhance police’s navigability and efficient crowd control and ensuring public order and safety during mass events.
The mounted unit will also take care of public order in Tashkent’s central streets, in recreation districts and work at special mass events.
The horseback unit will be attached to the Patrol and Inspection Brigade under the Department of Patrol and Protection of Public Order.
