Uzbekistan sent humanitarian aid to Pakistan, where population suffered from severe floods caused by unprecedented monsoon rains, Dunyo news agency reported.

Reportedly, 40 tons of aid will be delivered from Tashkent to Pakistan by military air transport. It includes food, including vegetable oil, flour, rice, canned meat, confectionery and pasta, as well as warm blankets and other goods.

Unprecedented monsoon rains and flooding in Pakistan over the past few weeks have affected an estimated 33 million people. The provinces of Balochistan and Sindh in the west and south of the country were hit hardest. Hundreds of thousands of people were left homeless.

According to the UN, Pakistan appealed to the world community for assistance. More than 1,000 people died as a result of heavy rains and the massive floods they caused.

To date, the floods have displaced approximately 500,000 people in Pakistan, many of whom have found shelter in makeshift camps. The storm destroyed or damaged almost a million houses. Lost 700 thousand head of cattle.

The humanitarian situation is aggravated by serious destruction of transport infrastructure. Thus, according to preliminary estimates, almost 3,500 km of roads and 150 bridges were damaged. Many victims were trapped and unable to escape to safer areas. In addition, it is difficult for them to deliver help.
