The implementation of a new regional project in the field of climate change has begun in cooperation with the State Ecology Committee and the German Society for International Cooperation.

An agreement on the implementation of the grant project was signed between the State Ecology Committee and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The regional project of climate risk management in Central Asia is planned to be implemented in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

The total cost of the project is 10 million euros, and it is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and will be implemented in 2022-2026.

The project was developed within the framework of the "Green Central Asia" regional program of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

At the event, it was noted that the most important aspect of Uzbekistan's climate agenda is the step-by-step transition to a "green" economy. Experts say that measures are being taken to increase the energy efficiency of the economy, reduce the use of hydrocarbons, and increase the share of renewable energy sources. By 2030, energy efficiency is expected to double and GDP carbon consumption to decrease.
