The State Assets Management Agency announced it sold the Chorvok Oromgokhi (Pyramids) resort, which is located on the left bank of the Charvak reservoir in Tashkent province.
The announcement of sale was published on July 5. According to the SAMA, four companies submitted bids for the purchase through E-auksion.
As a result, the state tender commission chose VIP Logistics as the winner of the auction, which offered 208 billion soums.
According to USREO data, the VIP Logistics joint venture was registered in August 2011 in Tashkent with an authorized capital of $2.69 million. The main activity of the company is trucking.
The owners of VIP Logistics are Harvest Industries LP (93%), Jamshid Shakirov (5.1%) and Abdigappar Shakirov (1.9%). The head of the company is Dilmurad Rakhmatullaev.
According to the UK Companies House website, Harvest Industries LP was established in Scotland in May 2012. Tahir Ikramov, a resident of Uzbekistan, is listed as a person with significant control.
The UK-based company also held a stake in the liquidated Lok Kolor Sintez paints and varnishes business, and is also listed as a co-founder (82.4%) of Big Bag Production, a polypropylene bag and yarn plant.
Jamshid Shakirov, in turn, is the co-owner of Kanteks Invest (50%, preparation and spinning of cotton fibers), Rohat Plasteks (100%, construction of non-residential buildings), Navo Teks (50%, preparation and spinning of cotton fibers) and Uzbekistan Hydrogen Peroxide (85%), created to implement projects for deep gas processing and complete import substitution of hydrogen peroxide.
The Pyramids were put up for the current auction in October 2021. Reportedly, the new owner will have to keep the hotel, observe a moratorium on cutting down trees and shrubs, and also pay off a debt to IMPRO of 573.5 thousand euros.
The Agency tried to sell the object before, dividing it into 8 parts. The decision to privatize was made to increase the efficiency, while the resort’s profit in 2019 fell to 2.7 million soums.
