On July 19 the Acting Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov met with Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, who arrived in Uzbekistan as part of a delegation led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda and considered the proposals to step up the ties in the political, economic, transport, tourism and culture fields.
The side noted presence of significant untapped potential for cooperation in the transport and transit areas. In particular, the importance of the effective use of the logistics centers of Uzbekistan and the seaports of Georgia for the export and import of goods, the mutual provision of discounts and benefits for the transportation of goods, the creation of a system of transport corridors linking Central Asia and the South Caucasus was emphasized.
The parties reiterated readiness to continue interaction within the framework of international institutions and reached an agreement to hold days of culture and cinema on a reciprocal basis in order to intensify cultural and humanitarian exchanges, as well as to organize joint scientific and technical research.
Cooperation program was signed following the meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Georgia for 2022-2024.
