The Uzatom Nuclear Energy Development Agency, the Rosenergoatom Concern and the Rosatom Technical Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 13, the agency's press service reported.

Cooperation with the Russian companies within the framework of the memorandum will help develop Uzbekistan’s nuclear infrastructure, train teachers and specialists in the field of nuclear energy, the report says.

The MoU is focused on cooperation in several areas, including a training program for teachers in Uzbekistan and conducting technical tours to Russian nuclear power plants.

Internships are also provided for at training centers of nuclear power plants in Russia, including visits to full-scale simulators and laboratories, Uzatom said in a statement.

On behalf of Uzbekistan, the memorandum was signed by the Director General of Uzatom agency, Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, and the General Director of Rosenergoatom concern, Andrey Petrov, and the rector of the Technical Academy of Rosatom, Yuri Seleznev.

It is also planned that Uzbek experts will participate in the joint activities of the Technical Academy of Rosatom and the IAEA. This will allow Uzbekistan to receive expert support from the academy in training specialists for all stages of the implementation of the nuclear program, the report says.

In August, within the framework of the memorandum, Uzbek experts will participate in the IAEA school on research reactors in St. Petersburg.

In 2021, Uzatom signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with Hungary in the field of training and education of workers in the field of nuclear energy.

There is also a memorandum on personnel training and advanced training between Uzatom and the Global Center for Nuclear Energy Partnership under the Department of Atomic Energy of India.
