President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on June 27, the Day of Press and Mass Media Workers in Uzbekistan, signed a resolution on supporting the media and developing the journalism.

According to the document, as of July 1, 2022 to July 1, 2025, media outlets will pay income tax at a 50% reduced rate (7.5% instead of 15%), except for advertising media.

During the same period, printing equipment, modern photographic and radio-television devices (as per the special list) not produced in Uzbekistan, as well as paper are exempt from customs duties.

From 2023, the practice of sending out mandatory free 110 copies of periodicals and 67 copies of book products will be canceled and the procedure for purchase of printed materials by the relevant state bodies and organizations at the expense of the state budget, as well as other institutions (with the exception of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi), is being introduced.

Budget-financed organizations through their expense item "library fund" are allowed to send funds for subscription to printed periodicals, their electronic forms, as well as electronic media.
