Uzbekistan delegation headed by the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Foreign Policy - Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President Abdulaziz Kamilov paid a visit to the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Separate talks were held during the visit with the Deputy Prime Ministers of Afghanistan, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and Abdusalam Hanafi.

The parties discussed the ways to advance and strengthen cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, as well as the implementation on the territory of Afghanistan of infrastructure projects initiated by Uzbekistan in the energy and transport and communication sectors.

The Afghan authorities expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for providing humanitarian assistance to the country, as well as efforts to restore the national economy.

Negotiations were also held between members of the Uzbek delegation with Acting Foreign Minister Amirkhan Muttaqi and Acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani.

TOLOnews reported that the meeting with Abdul Ghani Baradar discussed Afghanistan's relations with the international community and the resumption of economic projects, according to a statement released by Baradar's office.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement that Acting Minister Haqqani told the delegation that the Taliban had been able to maintain security since the Taliban came to power, and "security is of particular importance on the border with neighboring countries."

"Both sides committed to working towards closer ties between the two countries so they can better take advantage of economic opportunities," the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the caretaker government of Afghanistan said that the parties discussed the Afghan-Uzbek bilateral ties, the expansion of transit and trade.

Acting Foreign Minister Amirkhan Muttaqi welcomed Uzbekistan's cooperation with the Afghan people and said that the parties now have "good political space", highlighting the expansion of political and economic ties, the Bakhtar news agency writes.

During the meeting, Amirhan Muttaqi said that it is time for the administrations of the countries in the region to increase their development potential and make the most of existing opportunities.

“Kamilov recalled the upcoming high-level political and economic conference on Afghanistan that Uzbekistan is hosting in July and offered an invitation to Foreign Minister Muttaqi,” the Foreign Ministry of the caretaker government of Afghanistan said in a statement.

The Minister Muttaqi promised that he would attend the conference and discuss economic ties with the authorities of other countries.
