Abdulaziz Kamilov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President in charge of Foreign Policy and Security Affairs, has also been appointed as Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Foreign Policy Issues. The decree was signed by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the presidential spokesman Sherzod Asadov said.
Abdulaziz Kamilov served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1994-2003 and 2012-2022, after which he was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Security Council. Over the years, he was the state adviser to the president on foreign policies, the Uzbek Ambassador to the United States, Canada and Brazil, and other posts.
