A joint communique was signed in New York on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Antigua and Barbuda.

On behalf of the governments of the two countries, the document was signed by Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Bakhtiyor Ibragimov and Permanent Representative of Antigua and Barbuda to the UN Walton Alfonso Webson.

Antigua and Barbuda became the 141st country with which Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations. The country is located in the western part of the Caribbean Sea, is a member of the British Commonwealth, as well as the Organization of American States.

The parties confirmed their interest in strengthening joint cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies. An agreement was reached to maintain bilateral contacts to search for mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.

Earlier on May 10, 2022, Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
