Officials proposed to change the schedule in Tashkent's 17 universities and almost 90 schools, as well as the opening hours of major organizations located along the metro line, in order to reduce car traffic on streets.
This proposal was voiced at a presentation held for the president on Monday by the rector of the Tashkent State Transport University Odil Abdurakhmanov, the Saturday program "Menimcha" of Uzbekistan 24 reported.
“Some could start at 8:00 AM, someone at 8:30 AM, someone at 8:15 AM… We have already talked with 17 [universities]… First, congestion will decrease. Secondly, balance will be restored in the subway,” he said.
The presentation slide showed that the updated work schedules are planned to be developed by August 1 and implemented from September 1. Whether this initiative will be implemented in practice is still unknown.
