Uzbekistan and Russia increased the period of stay of citizens on a mutual basis without registration up to 15 days. This is provided for by an treaty between the governments of the two countries, which took effect on June 4, Dunyo reported.

According to the document, Uzbeks entering the Russian Federation and Russians entering Uzbekistan shall be waived from the obligation to register within 15 days from the date of entry. Prior to this, Uzbeks could stay in Russia without registration for 7 days, and Russians in Uzbekistan for 3 days.

The treaty was signed by the governments of Uzbekistan and Russia in 2021.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan has previously noted that the complication of the registration procedure by the relevant authorities of Russia (issuance of a patent for the implementation of labor activity) has created a number of difficulties for labor migrants. This, in turn, causes them to violate immigration laws.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan recommends that citizens of both states comply with the legislation of the host country and register with the relevant authorities in a timely manner.
