The Transcarpathian region of Ukraine received humanitarian aid from Uzbekistan on June 6, said the head of the region, Viktor Mikita.
According to him, more than 19 tons of medicines were delivered by plane to a humanitarian hub in Slovakia, after which they were transported to Transcarpathia.
As Victor Mikita noted, we are talking about antibiotics and vitamins – a total of 12 items in the amount of more than 200 thousand pieces. The cost of assistance is estimated at over $1 million.
Humanitarian aid will be sent to military doctors in areas of warfare and hospitals, the report said.
“We sincerely thank our friends, entrepreneurs, volunteers from Uzbekistan for their help and personally the Ambassador of Ukraine to Uzbekistan Mykola Doroshenko for coordination and an effective humanitarian corridor,” the head of Transcarpathia emphasized.
This is the second cargo sent to Ukraine from Uzbekistan. For the first time, aid was delivered in April - more than 34 tons of medicines, first-aid kits and long-term storage food.
It should be noted that a recent UN report on the humanitarian hub in Termez said that the UN Refugee Agency had already sent 1,000 tons of aid from there to Afghanistan, and now sends part of the cargo to Ukraine.
