Mongolia announced the introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for Uzbekistan citizens, announced on June 3 at a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Mongolia Batsumber Munkhzhin as part of his working visit to Tashkent.
At the talks, they spoke about the existence of a significant potential for increasing the two-way trade. The possibilities of increasing the export of agricultural, primarily fruit and vegetable products of Uzbekistan to the Mongolian market were discussed.
The prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Mongolia within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in which Mongolia is an observer country, as well as the participation of the Mongolian delegation in the meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States in Samarkand in September 2022, were considered.
On the same day, Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Jasurbek Choriyev met with the Director General of the Civil Aviation Development Department of the Ministry for the Development of Roads and Transport of Mongolia Munkhtuya Chimeddorj.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the parties discussed entering into between the governments of Uzbekistan and Mongolia of an agreement on air traffic and international road transport.
A protocol of understanding was signed between the ministries and an agreement was reached on the exchange of permit forms before signing an intergovernmental agreement in order to develop cooperation in the field of road transport, create favorable conditions for carriers, open new transport corridors and study the current market situation.
UzA reported that Uzbekistan and Mongolia had never signed an air service agreement. With regard to road communication, over the past two years, only two vehicles have been sent from Uzbekistan to Mongolia.
A solid delegation of Mongolia headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs visited Uzbekistan on June 2-5. It also included a number of heads of Mongolian business structures.
Uzbekistan and Mongolia this year are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
