Russia will lift entry restrictions for Uzbek nationals by rail roads as of June 14. This decision was made by the Russian operational anti-coronavirus headquarters, the Russian government said in a statement.

"A decision has been made to resume once-a-week rail traffic on the Tashkent-Samara and Tashkent-Volgograd routes from June 14," the statement added.

From the same date, Russia will be lifting epidemiological restrictions on the entry of foreign citizens arriving by air and through sea checkpoints, introduced in March 2020.

In April last year, Russia resumed flights with Uzbekistan and allowed students from Uzbekistan to return to the country to continue their studies, and in the fall, people arriving to work in the construction and agro-industrial complex.

Last summer, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, suggested that the Russian side increase the number of regular flights between the countries and gradually resume passenger rail traffic.
