Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will pay a two-day official visit to Uzbekistan, the Asia-Plus reported, citing the press service of the Tajik President.
Emomali Rahmon’s trip is scheduled for June 2-3. During the visit, the President is scheduled to meet with the senior Uzbek officials, as a result of which the signing of a number of documents is not ruled out, the press service noted.
The agenda of the upcoming meetings includes the development of cooperation between the countries in the trade, economic, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian areas.
In connection with the upcoming visit, the Tajik news agency "Khovar" published an article by the country's ambassador to Uzbekistan, Abdujabbor Rakhmonzoda. It says that business meetings, an investment forum, a provincial scientific and practical conference and a number of cultural events are planned as part of the president's visit to Tashkent.
According to statistics, in 2021, trade between the two countries topped $447.8 million, which is by $114 million (34.2%) more than in 2020.
