A score of coronavirus restrictions will be lifted in Uzbekistan starting from March 16. This is provided for by the decision of the Republican Anti-Coronavirus Commission on Tuesday, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage reported.
In particular, from this date, temporary restrictions on the movement of all persons through ground checkpoints on the border of Uzbekistan with Tajikistan are to be lifted. Measures are being taken to reopen all border checkpoints.
When visiting Uzbekistan, foreign citizens will no longer need to take a PCR test or a rapid antigen test for coronavirus if they have a valid vaccination certificate or passport. If there is no hard copy of certificate, then it is necessary to provide a QR code of a negative PCR test passed at least 72 hours before the visit, or pass an express test when crossing the border or upon arrival in Uzbekistan.
In addition, all restrictions on the free passage of citizens through land border checkpoints are being lifted between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, international passenger rail traffic between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan is resumed, as well as bus traffic on a parity basis, in compliance with quarantine rules.
It is expected that in the near future the system of electronic registration and issuance of visas to foreign citizens (E-VISA) for entry into Uzbekistan will be resumed, and a Call Center will be created to provide tourists with services for quick and high-quality exchange of information.
Since March 1, the Uzbek authorities have canceled the mask mandate, restrictions on the opening hours of cafes, pubs and restaurants and other prohibitions.
