Story surfaced on social networks that Ulugbek Treasure was discovered on the banks of Tupalang River in Surkhandarya province. The prosecutor's office clarified this information.

Reportedly, on March 2 this year residents found copper coins on the banks of the Tupalang River, which flows through the territory of Sariosiyo distrcit,.

On March 3, officials of the Cultural Heritage Agency, the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan, the Termez Archaeological Museum received 512 copper coins from the residents of the district, which were handed over to the fund of Termez Archaeological Museum.

During further exploration, the prosecutor's office and representatives of the industry obtained an additional 620 copper coins and 1 chess piece, which were also handed over to the museum fund. In addition, a special expedition was created, consisting of employees of the provincial prosecutor's office, the department of cultural heritage and the archaeological museum, which is currently excavating at the site.

On March 9, the expedition members found 4 more copper coins. According to the preliminary conclusion of archaeologists, these coins were minted during the reign of Mirzo Ulugbek (XV century), which are the largest and best preserved example of cultural heritage found to date.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, search operations under the supervision of the department are currently ongoing in this area.
