Deputy PM/Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko on March 10 signed an action plan to promote tourism, the press service of the Russian government said.
The document is aimed at strengthening transport and logistics ties and increasing mutual tourist flows, as well as creating new tourist routes in Uzbekistan and Russia.
The joint plan includes 20 events. It is planned to hold the Year of Tourism in Russia and Uzbekistan, to develop and launch the cross-border tourist route: The Great Silk Road.
In addition, it is planned to create special travel packages for festival, gastronomic, wine, extreme, winter and other types of tourism. It is planned to organize study tours for students of Uzbekistan and Russia.
“Tourism in Uzbekistan is, first of all, cities with unique architecture and history, hospitable people, excellent cuisine. Russia also has something to offer to Uzbek tourists. These are the regions of the Far East: Kamchatka, Sakhalin, as well as Altai, the historical cities of the central part of the country and much more that we are proud of,” Dmitry Chernyshenko said.
