Starting February 4, the registration and examination departments (RED) of the Tashkent Traffic Police Department have ceased to hold theoretical and practical exams for issuing driver's licenses, the press service of the Tashkent City Police Department reported.

From this day on, exams in the capital will be held at the Unified Examination Center, opened by Autodriver Study company in the Sergeli district.

Reportedly, in other provinces of Uzbekistan, exams will continue to be taken at the RED until private examination centers will step in. The Department added that new centers may also appear in Tashkent.

At the opening of the center, Deputy Interior Minister Bekmurod Abdullayev said that automated examination centers would be built and put into operation in all provinces during 2022-2023.

By the December 7, 2020 President’s Additional measures to attract the private sector to the areas regulated by the state Decree, from April 1, 2021, licensed driving schools have been granted the right to conduct theoretical and practical exams for obtaining a driver’s license.

In provinces where private companies start operating, the registration and examination departments of the traffic police stop taking driving tests (from the date the enterprise license is valid).

Those who successfully pass the exams receive special protected certificates, on the basis of which driver's licenses are issued (in public service centers or internal affairs bodies).

On May 4, 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers issued Additional measures to involve the private sector in the field of conducting exams for obtaining a driver’s license for the right to drive a motor vehicle Resolution, which spells out the requirements for autodromes, conducting exams and more.
