On January 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will attend the first India-Central Asia summit via videoconference call, the presidential press service said.
The summit is being organized at the initiative of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The parties will explore the ways to further expand multilateral relations, strengthen interregional interconnectivity, as well as ensure stability and sustainable development in the region.
The parties will also discuss the promotion of cooperation in the field of trade, industrial cooperation, "green economy", innovation and digital technologies, transport and logistics, cultural and humanitarian exchange.
Following the summit, the Delhi Declaration will be adopted, aimed at strengthening the ties of friendship and long-term partnership in priority areas.
The leaders of the Central Asian countries were supposed to be guests of honor at the military parade on the occasion of the Republic Day in India on January 26, New Delhi even sent invitations to the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. However, the plans were later canceled amid the worsening situation with the coronavirus.
