On January 24, the Ministry of Justice registered a branch of the independent Swiss organization Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation in Uzbekistan, the ministry's said.
Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation was established in 1955 to provide assistance to underdeveloped countries.
The main goal of the organization is to promote the improvement of living conditions and the quality of life of vulnerable segments of the population, the implementation of projects and programs aimed at providing the population with drinking water, as well as support for government agencies and institutions, improving the system of vocational education, developing innovations, and so on.
Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation will be implementing the “Support to VET Reforms Project”, which is financed by SDC, The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, represented by the Swiss Embassy in Uzbekistan. This major new project will be implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education and other state partners to support the reforms in the vocational education system.
The project will be focusing on the improvement youth employability through better market orientation and promoting partnerships with the private sector. The project will be implemented in 4 years (2021-2025) with a budget of 4.8 Mio CHF ($5.26 million).
