Uzbekistan Airports has begun a phased introduction of a new passenger and baggage check-in system - Astra DCS, the company said on Tuesday.
The first airport to use this system was the Namangan airport, which served the Ural Airlines flight to Moscow. The second flight under the new check-in system will also be operated from Namangan to Yekaterinburg on January 12.
Previously, all airports used only one check-in system from the national airline. In the future, own registration system for airports will be required, explained Javlon Umarkhodjaev, First Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Airports.
The supplier - the Russian company Sirena Travel - was awarded contract following an open tender.
“A step-by-step transition will be made at all 11 international airports of Uzbekistan to this system for all airlines that do not have their own registration system or their system is not installed at the airports of the country,” he said.
According to Sirena Travel, Astra DCS operates at more than 320 airports, including Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Greece, Egypt, Israel and Mexico.
