Uzbekistan has no plans to resume natural gas supplies to Russia yet, the Ministry of Energy said. The complete suspension of gas exports to Russia and a threefold decrease in its supplies to China due to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak were reported in July 2020.

"There are currently no gas supplies to Russia, and there are no plans for 2022," the ministry added.

In 2018, Uzbekistan supplied the Russian Gazprom with 3.8 billion cubic meters of gas, and in 2019, supplies increased to 4.9 billion cubic meters, stopping in 2020.

From the same year, Uzbekistan began to buy Turkmen gas from Gazprom: 0.9 billion cubic meters (BCM) were purchased in 2020, and 1.5 BCM in Q1 of 2021.

In 2020, the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov announced plans to stop exporting gas by 2025 and switch to its full processing inside the country and the production of value-added products.

Now almost all gas exports from Uzbekistan go to China. According to the Chinese customs authorities, 3.277 BCM of gas were supplied to this country in 2020, and in 10 months of 2021 supplies increased to 4.02.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the price of gas exports in 11 months of 2021 topped US$ 684.8 million (only in November - $ 88 million), which is 48.1% more than in the same period in 2020.
