The Ministry of Emergency Situations in a statment confirmed reports surfaced on social networks that on December 19, at 5:03 am, two electric locomotives collided near the Angren coal mine of the UzbekCoal company in Tashkent province.
Reportedly, due to the leakage of compressed air in the brake system, the electric locomotive # 010 began to move and collided with the moving train # 017. As a result, 20 cars - 14 cars loaded with coal of the first train and 6 empty cars of the second train - derailed and capsized. In total, there were 33 cars in two trains.
As a result of the accident, the driver of train # 010 and his assistant were slightly injured. They are hospitalized.
50 people were involved in the emergency scene, as well as 2 cargo cranes and 2 loaders of the Railway Transport branch of UzbekCoal. A pre-investigation probe is underway.
