The U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense Christopher Maier held talks in Uzbekistan on border security, announced U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Daniel Rosenblum said on his Twitter page.

Earlier, Politico reported that representatives of the Pentagon would discuss in Uzbekistan this month the possibility of deploying U.S. counterterrorism forces. The Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, commenting on this information, said that the issue of the possible deployment of US armed forces in Uzbekistan to fight terrorism "is not worth it and is not discussed."

“Very glad to participate in productive talks on bilateral cooperation and to discuss border security the past few days with the Government of Uzbekistan during the visit of an interagency delegation led by Assistant Secretary of Defense Chris Maier,” said Daniel Rosenblum.
