The Deputy Minister of Energy Sherzod Khodjaev attended the first organized meeting of the energy ministers of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The ministerial forum was held on August 12 online chaired by the Tajik side.

During the meeting, Sherzod Khodjaev noted: “I am sure that this platform will become an effective platform for solving urgent problems in the fuel and energy complex of the SCO member states and for working out long-term plans for advancing cooperation. As Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted during the Third Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia on August 6 this year, "the issues of energy security of the region are becoming even more urgent given the growth of national economies and population." In this regard, we propose to continue efforts to form a common energy space, paying special attention to the introduction of green energy and energy efficient technologies. "

Within the framework of the online meeting, the heads of delegations exchanged views on a wide range of issues of the state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the energy sector of the SCO member states.

The parties discussed and approved the Concept of Cooperation of the SCO Member States in the Energy Sector, and also agreed to create a permanent Working Group of the SCO Member States on Cooperation in the Energy Sector and hold its first meeting this year.

Within the framework of the adopted Concept, the main areas of cooperation were determined, including: creation of new energy capacities, taking into account the energy balance existing in the SCO member states; interaction in the conditions of the fuel and energy crisis; long-term forecasting of production and consumption of energy resources; development of new approaches in the field of energy efficiency and energy saving, taking into account the practice of different countries and others.
