Joint drills with the participation of Uzbek, Russian and Tajik servicemen ended at the Harb-Maidon training ground in Tajikistan, the Uzbek Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The First Deputy Minister of Defense/Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov, Commander of the Central Military District (CVD) of Russia Alexander Lapin and Minister of Defense of Tajikistan Sherali Mirzo attended the active phase of the joint drills.
The trilateral joint drills were held for the first time, the statement added.
According to the Central Military District, at the drills with the participation of 2,500 military personnel from the three countries, the use of an interspecific grouping of troops with the massive use of aviation, reconnaissance and fire complexes and airborne assault forces was demonstrated for the first time.
