In August, about 1,500 Uzbek and Russian servicemen will attend a joint drill at the Surkhandarya training ground, the Russian Defense Ministry.

The drill will take place from July 30 to August 10 at the Termez test site in the area bordering Afghanistan and will involve about 200 military vehicles, including aircrafts.

As part of the drill, the joint forces will work to ensure the territorial integrity of the Central Asian states.

The main part of the Russian contingent reportedly consists of servicemen of the peacekeeping unit and the special purpose brigade of the Central Military District.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan would send combat aircraft, armored vehicles and special forces to the exercises on the Tajik-Afghan border.
