On July 17, the special representative of the President for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, met with the Special Envoy of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia Matthias Lüttenberg.

The parties exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, and reviewed the ways to assist the peace process in this country, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.

The counterparts also voiced concern about the escalation of the intra-Afghan armed conflict and spoke for the continuation of the efforts of the world community to support peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The parties reportedly expressed their readiness for further cooperation on Afghanistan and solving problems associated with a possible influx of Afghan refugees and border incidents and underscored the important role of the countries of the region in continuing all-round economic and humanitarian support to the Afghan people, as well as efforts to establish a lasting and comprehensive peace in Afghanistan.
