The United States is sending a high-level delegation to attend the conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” in Tashkent on July 15-16.
According to Dunyo, the U.S> delegation at the conference will be represented by Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, the Homeland Security Advisor for the U.S. President Joe Biden. Within the framework of her visit, bilateral meetings are also planned with the leadership of the Senate, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the heads of foreign affairs agencies of other countries participating in the conference.
The official delegation also includes the US Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad, who will moderate the breakout session “Regional Security. Challenges and Threats”.
Diplomats and experts from around the world will discuss the prospects for regional cooperation in solving cross-border security problems, the consolidated approach to establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan, the ways of cooperation between the states of Central and South Asia in the field of digital technologies and cybersecurity, and combating the pandemic.
The Chief Operating Officer of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) David Marchik will attend the panel session of the conference "Trade and Transport Connectivity for Sustainable Growth" online.
