The Liberal Democratic Party discussed on June 28 a bill amending the Criminal Code and the Administrative Liability Code, the Legislative Chamber reported.

The document proposes to harshen the punishment in the part 1 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code (Resisting, that is, active opposition to the legitimate activities of a representative of the authorities in office, or a person performing a civic duty). The size of the fine is proposed to be increased from 50 to 100 basic values, house arrest - from 1 to 3 years, and imprisonment - from 1 to 3 years.

According to the MPs, the adoption of this bill will provide legal protection for civil servants.

In early April, a presidential decree draft proposed to toughen punishment for humiliation of honor and dignity, inflicting bodily harm on law enforcement officers, as well as introduce liability for disseminating information about the private life of officers and their families.
