The Anti-Corruption Agency has posted for discussion a draft bill amending the Anti-Corruption Law. The draft proposes to amend article 28 of the law, according to which the state provides social and legal protection not only to whistleblowers, but also to their close relatives.

“Information about persons who reported corruption-related offenses shall become state secrets and cannot be disclosed. The exception is the restrictions provided for by the law,” the draft bill says.

If there are sufficient grounds to believe there is threat of violence or destruction of property of persons who reported corruption, as well as their close relatives, the anti-corruption bodies are obliged to take the necessary measures to protect their life, health, honor, dignity and property, the draft says.

The attack on persons who reported corruption and their close relatives on the basis of such a report serves as a basis for prosecution under the law, the draft notes.

Whistleblowers will be rewarded according to procedures set by the government.

At the same time, persons who are aware of offenses related to corruption and who provided false information about them are liable in accordance with the law. The protection provisions shall not apply to them.

In August, the Prosecutor General's Office proposed setting the amount of incentives for reporting corruption offenses, depending on the amount of bribe or damage caused, or the value of the stolen property - from 3 basic calculation values up to 10-15% of the amount.
