As reported earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó visited Tashkent on July 16, and held talks with Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Sardor Umurzakov, Energy Minister Alisher Sultanov and other members of the Uzbek government.

During the talks at the Ministry of Energy, the Minister Péter Szijjártó announced its readiness for partnership in the energy sector, in particular, the cooperation between Uzatom Agency, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the Hungarian Scientific Center for Nuclear Energy MVM Paksi Atomeromu in matters of building a nuclear power plant and scientific exchange in the field of nuclear energy.

In addition, the possibilities of using the dry cooling method of circulating water at large thermal power plants, including nuclear power plants, used by the Hungarian company ENIOX, were discussed. The Hungarian delegation expressed its readiness to provide 130 million euros from the Hungarian Exim Bank with the participation of ENIOX in this project, the Ministry of Energy said.

Hungary plans to increase the quota for students from Uzbekistan from 30 to 100 people, within the framework of which it is proposed to introduce a program for the study of nuclear energy at the Budapest Polytechnic University.

According to the Uzbekistan 24, it is planned to open a branch of Debrecen University in Tashkent.

At a meeting at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade were discussed the prospects for opening a branch of Hungarian OTP Bank in Uzbekistan, as well as opportunities for the implementation of joint projects with the attraction of funds from the Hungarian Eximbank.

The sides agreed to hold the sixth meeting of the Uzbek-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and a bilateral business forum in November this year.
